Display tester guide
Work through the screens in order and inspect the entire panel, including corners and edges. Mouse wheel and arrow keys move between checks; the final screen exits the run.
Clean the panel, set browser zoom to 100%, reduce glare and let the display warm up. Start with the full test, scan from corner to corner, and repeat any unusual result at a second brightness level before deciding the panel is faulty.
Solid black, white, red, green and blue fields expose bright or dark points. Gray fields help reveal cloudy backlight, tinted patches and uneven corners.
A healthy panel should separate nearby shades and show smooth ramps without abrupt stripes. Compare two devices with the same brightness and viewing position.
Small text should remain crisp without colored fringes or halos. Use the gamma mark at 100% browser zoom and adjust it until the solid letters blend into the stripes.
Move your head around the screen and watch for color shifts. Follow the moving blocks to spot obvious trails, then compare laptops using identical speed settings.

These browser checks help you notice visible problems. They are not a replacement for professional calibration equipment or a manufacturer warranty inspection.
The solid black, white, red, green and blue screens make unusual pixels easier to spot. A bright point on black may be stuck, while a dark point on a color field may indicate a missing pixel or subpixel.
Yes. Full-screen mode removes most browser distractions and lets the color fields cover the panel. Keep browser zoom at 100% and press Esc whenever you want to leave.
The moving-block test is useful for visual comparison between laptops or monitors using identical settings. It can reveal obvious trails and ghosting, but it does not replace a laboratory response-time measurement.
Clean the panel, let it warm up, set browser zoom to 100%, lower strong room lighting and inspect from your normal viewing distance. Test before completing a used-laptop purchase whenever possible.
